Pre-Professional Education

Pre-Health
Many careers in healthcare require a graduate or professional degree. There are a variety of majors and minors that will prepare you for health professional graduate programs; however most of these programs require pre-requisite courses.

Students interested in medicine, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, veterinary medicine, and chiropractic medicine should consult the Office of Pre-Medical and Pre-Health Studies and open a premed file in 205 Ashe Building. Additionally, students should refer to the Premedical Student Guidelines provided by this Office and attend the application information sessions.

Students interested in other areas including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Speech Pathology, and Public Health can find more information about professional schools here.

Pre-Law
Pre-law academic advising is available in the College of Arts and Sciences by the pre-law advisor, located in Ashe 112. In addition, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Student Support Services in the School of Business Administration offers pre-law advising to business students. All pre-law students should consult the Pre-Law Manual for more information about what to study as an undergraduate, applications, the LSAT, and law school admission process. In addition, when considering law school, review the Pre-Law Frequently Asked Questions.
